Chorizo Flatbread

2011 Chorizo Contest

  • Prep Time: 25 minutes
  • Start to Finish: 1 hour
  • 5 servings
  • 12 oz. El Popular Longaniza
  • 6 oz. El Popular Chorizo (Beef)
  • 5 Naan flatbreads
  • Pizza sauce (recipe to follow)
  • Sliced onions
  • Sliced pepperoncini
  • 1 lb. shredded mozzarella cheese

To Begin

  1. Remove casings from El Popular Longaniza and fry, breaking up into small chunks.
  2. Add El Popular Chorizo and cook until chorizo is crumbled.
  3. Cover naan with pizza sauce, sausage mixture, onion, pepperoncini and cheese.
  4. Bake in a 450 degree oven until cheese is golden brown.

Pizza Sauce

  • 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seed
  • ¾ teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried marjoram
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Sugar to taste

Mix all ingredients and let stand for at least 15 minutes to allow flavors to come together.
