Blondies Have More Fun. Nothing complements the salty richness of Chorizo quite like sweet These Brown Butter Maple Chorizo Blondie Bars are a melt-in-your-mouth favorite that will surely sooth your sweet tooth.

Makes: 24 servings

Ingredients

1 package (12 oz) El Popular “Original” Chorizo
1 ⅓ cup light brown sugar packed
½ cup unsalted butter melted, browned and cooled
½ cup maple syrup
1 tbsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups all purpose flour
¾ tsp salt
¼ tsp baking soda

For frosting we recommend pre-made maple frosting, or cream cheese frosting with some maple flavor mixed in.

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Prepare a 9×13 sized baking pan with parchment paper.
Brown butter and set to cool in the fridge.
Remove Chorizo from casing and place in a medium skillet. Cook for 4-5 min until brown. Drain off some of oil, but not all.
In a mixer bowl, add brown sugar, browned butter, maple syrup, vanilla extract, Chorizo (all but ¼ cup), and eggs. Mix on medium speed until well combined.
Slow the mixer down to low speed and add flour, salt and baking soda and mix until combined.
Add batter to parchment paper and spread out using a spatula.
Bake for 23-27 minutes or until toothpick in center comes out clean.
After allowing to cool thoroughly for a few hours, smooth frosting* over the blondies and take the ¼ left over cup Chorizo and sprinkle over the top.
Cut, serve, and enjoy!

Unlike Spanish Chorizo — Mexican style is soft, raw, uncured, and uncooked.
Similar to how Americans view bacon, Chorizo is a versatile ingredient one can use to enhance any dish!

Directions

Remove casing from Chorizo links.
Place desired amount in a non-stick skillet.
Break-up Chorizo while cooking at medium heat.
Sauté for 7-8 minutes until the Chorizo is fully cooked or the internal temperature has reached 165 degrees (F).
Enjoy on or in any dish.
