  • Makes: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 links (12 oz.) El Popular Chorizo (any flavor of your choice; we recommend “Original” or “Mild”)

  • ⅓ lb lean ground beef

  • ¼ cup onion, chopped

  • ¼ cup green bell pepper, chopped

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp yellow mustard

  • ¾ cup ketchup

  • 3 tsp brown sugar

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  • Remove Chorizo from casing and place into a medium pan. Put ground beef, onion, and green pepper into pan with the Chorizo, and cook together for 5-7 minutes until meat is nicely browned, onions are translucent, and the peppers are soft. Drain off liquids.

  • Stir in the garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, and brown sugar; mix thoroughly.

  • Reduce heat and let it simmer.

  • Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve between a bun or tortilla.

Chorizo 101

Chorizo is a spicy sausage believed to have come from Ancient Rome and later adopted by the Spaniards who brought it to Mexico. Unlike Spanish Chorizo — Mexican Chorizo is soft, raw, uncured, and uncooked. Similar to how Americans view bacon, Chorizo is a versatile ingredient used to enhance any dish!

  • Prep Time: 2 minutes
  • Cook Time: 10 minutes
  • Makes: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • Remove casing from El Popular Chorizo links.
  • Place desired amount in a non-stick skillet.
  • Break-up El Popular Chorizo while cooking at medium heat.
  • Sauté for 7-8 minutes until the El Popular Chorizo is fully cooked or the internal temperature is 165 degrees (F).
  • Enjoy on or in any dish.
