Longaniza 101

  • Pronounced “Long-ga-nee-sa”.

  • It’s a sausage similar to Chorizo, but is perfect for grilling since it is firmer and doesn’t crumble when cooking due to being in a natural casing (like a bratwurst).

  • Unlike Chorizo, which is typically used as an ingredient in a dish, Longaniza can stand on its own as a meal, especially when nestled inside a hot dog bun or tortilla.

Directions

  • Remove Longaniza from plastic packaging.

  • Place sausage on grill and cook until the outside edges are slightly crispy and brown.

  • If using a skillet, place in a skillet with enough water to submerge the sausages halfway. Cook over medium heat until all water evaporates off, and outside of Longaniza is brown and crispy.
